Legal Archives Center

Who We Are

The Legal Archives Centre (LAC) is an independent legal research and policy institute founded in 2023 and based in Somalia. LAC is dedicated to improving access to justice and strengthening the rule of law by providing free, open-access legal information and expert analysis. Using digital innovation, LAC bridges the gap between legal knowledge and the Somali public, offering a range of resources including legal opinions, academic journals, lecture notes, and case law collections.

LAC is led by a team of experienced Somali legal professionals led by Ahmed Kheir Osman and supported by an international editorial board to ensure the highest standards of research ethics and quality. The Centre actively engages in legal education, advocacy, and digital publishing to promote transparency, accountability, and legal reform across Somalia.

By harnessing the power of mobile and digital technologies used by over 85% of Somalis—LAC empowers citizens, legal practitioners, and institutions with accessible and practical legal knowledge..
